This is Lucy’s teacher, Miss Durand. She’s a real gem. Lucy just loves her. Not only is she a dedicated educator, but she has become a great friend helping out our family during this time in Kosovo.
Today after school the boys walked on home together while Lucy and I took the bus to pick up Ellie from the sitter.
As the girls and I walked on home, Lucy asked me lots of questions. Where is Miss Durand from? Why does she live with other teachers from PHS? Do I think she misses her family? And so on. I explained that Miss Durand works for an organization that places teachers in schools around the world. When you agree to work for them, you agree to meeting new people and living with strangers that hopefully become friends.
“I think I want to do that someday, Mom,” Lucy said. “I want to travel places, meet new people, and help others. Do you think that’s ok?”
Yes, Lucy. I sure do think that’s ok.
