We’ve been back to school now for a week. Derek is enjoying his third grade class and I have my hands full with 18 little first graders, some who have been in school before and some who have not.

Here are our first day of school pics.

Dexter in 9th. He was nervous (whether he admits that or not).

Xander in 6th.

And Lucy in 4th.

First Day at Prishtina High School in Kosovo.

Most days are good. Some days are harder. We are waiting and watching to see how they do. This is a big part of our trip. We don’t want these guys falling behind after having such successful school experiences last year.

Here’s Derek and I after school on Day 1.

Xander and Lucy enjoy playing behind our apartment after school in the evenings.

And, with the help of friends, Derek successfully took the boys to a barber for haircuts.

The biggest challenges right now include me figuring out how to use the oven and continuing to work on consistent transportation to school each morning. Whenever we think we have it figured out, we run into a new surprise snafu.

We are glad to have Week 1 completed!

  1. One down…Before you know it, you’ll all feel so at home. It is an adventure. The school is strong and the kids will do well. Wish I could give you a hug right now. I know that first week of school kind of tired. Multiply that with language differences and transportation issues. It will all be better this next week and better than that the next and so on…
