I feel like I can now say I have officially visited Prishtina. We made it to see the two most famous statues.
The Newborn statue represents the day that Kosovo declared independence from Serbia. This modern statue includes the letters for the English word “NEWBORN.” Every year on the anniversary of the country’s independence, a new artist reveals an updated painting of the letters. Originally the letters were bright yellow. They have also been painted with the flags of the countries who have supported Kosovo’s independence. The Newborn statue has been featured on the front page of The New York Times.

We also visited the President Bill Clinton statue. This statue is a thank you to President Clinton and his support of Kosovo in their pursuit of independence. There is much respect and gratitude toward the United States here.

And, believe it or not, there is a clothing store right next door called “Hillary.”

Prishtina, Kosovo
