This has been a busy weekend. Two of my kids were invited to birthday parties. Lucy and I went over to the apartment of a coworker whose daughter and Lucy have become fast friends. It was a lovely afternoon.

Dexter was invited to go to the movies for his friend, Jon’s birthday. He had a great time hanging out with some other guys from school on Saturday evening.

Here’s Ellie and I waiting on the others to buy us doughnuts and macchiatos before church on Sunday.

We love, love, love the church we are attending. It is a very emotional thing to worship and sing the songs we sing at home in another language. I’ve been reminded that it doesn’t take a catchy sermon series, flashy kids’ programming, and extreme events that we can sometimes focus on in the US. You just need a Bible and people who love Jesus and each other. Church has already been a real encouragement to us.

They speak in Albanian and translate into English or the other way around depending on who is in attendance.

We sing half the worship songs in Albanian and half in English. I recorded a snippet from today’s service

“I Surrender” in Albanian

Then we sang in English.

After service, the whole church walks to a nearby restaurant to eat lunch together. It’s an authentic Kosovar restaurant and the food is very good. It’s a great tradition that I think Connect should start upon our return.

Today Xander and I also took a picture in our Greene Beanery gear to send to Cheryl.

We also discovered a bus near our apartment that will drop us off close to the church. That will save us lots of walking time on Sunday mornings. Yay!!!
